FAQs
-
What do I wear to class?
Dancing is about movement and enjoyment - wear something that makes you feel comfortable! Good flat shoes or sneakers are the best to start with.
-
What if I've never danced before?
Absolute beginners are welcome. Like most new things you try, it will take a bit of time before it becomes second nature - but practice makes perfect! Our classes are well structured to make learning easy to understand and lots of fun.
-
Will I need a partner?
No partner is needed for any of our classes or levels. Partners are rotated throughout the class so even if the numbers are uneven, everyone gets the chance to dance.
-
How long it takes to learn to dance?
This depends entirely on the individual, their coordination and how much effort and practice you put into it. We do highly recommend that everyone complete our Beginners/Foundation classes to get a proper understanding of leading and following techniques and how to connect with your partner before moving onto the next level. Repeating Beginners courses can be very beneficial, especially for leads.

Why should I learn to dance Salsa or Bachata?
Many students share that dancing has changed their lives for good. Lots of them say that this is their therapy. Dancing is also a great form of exercise for your body and mind. It’s a chance to belong to a great community of people where you can make friendships for life. Dancing is like learning an International language. No matter where you go or travel you can connect with other like-minded folks in a Latin bar or event and you will always feel welcome.
-
What is the fastest way to become a better dancer?
The best way to fast forward your dancing skills is to join our regular classes and also invest in private lessons e.g once a week. Example: In one private lesson, you receive the curriculum equivalent of three regular group lessons.
-
Do you offer specialised training or performance opportunities?
Yes, we run private lessons one-on-one or in small groups. We also do have a few performance teams and train students to perform for local and overseas events.
Please contact us if you think you have the ability and dedication to join our Las Bachateras (ladies) team or our Salsa team. -
How do I pay for classes or workshops
You can purchase membership or vouchers from our website or you can do a bank transfer if this is more convenient. Cash will still be available at the start of a term or at the beginning of each lesson.

How does dancing work in the traffic light system?
After reviewing the NZ government law very carefully, and with a recent law change on 22 December, most of our activities (including; dance classes, performance teams and events) are now best explained as "permitting gatherings" or "sports performance teams". Dancing at our studio is cultural, social,, recreational and a sport. Social dance styles usually operate with the same groups of people like a social bubble. We are trying to be as non-discriminatory as we possibly can under the mandates, otherwise, we would have to close our doors.
-
Do we need to be vaccinated to attend a class?
Vaccine passports will be required for regular classes, private lessons and Salsa Latin parties when we are at an Orange or Red setting.
All our teachers are fully vaccinated. Be assured we will keep you updated, follow the Ministry of Health’s guidelines and let you know if there are new changes to the rules by our studio owners.
